Did you know the number one reason meetings fail is “Agenda Woes?” It’s true. In order to have effective and successful meetings – “Meetings that Matter” - the single biggest influence is having a good agenda process. In order to move your meetings from good to great consider the eight keys to success with agenda development:

  1. Identify and communicate the primary purpose of the meeting.
  2. Connect the purpose of the meeting to the organizations vision and strategic initiatives.
  3. Establish an agenda format that works well for the meetings participants and purpose.
  4. Consider rotating responsibility for agenda creation.
  5. Attach a time allotment to each item.
  6. Distribute the agenda and materials to all meeting participants in advance.
  7. Identify expectations for reading, review and assignment completion prior to meeting.
  8. Identify items that will require action and label them.
